Francisco Pabon, Director of Puerto Rican Studies, State University of New York at Buffalo. Videotaped on April, 17 1988 at the Ujamaa Residential College, Cornell University. Pabon describes stories that reflect self-encounters. He discusses the living culture of Puerto Rico that serves to preserve the concept of an inner-self that heals. Pabon also discusses a film that reflects his work on exposing the images that show how encounters can reveal the inner-self. These encounters continue from the Afro-Latino cultural experience. Other true stories from the Spanish world are also told. His lecture largely deals with the encounters in the Spanish world. AFR Video 408

Straight ’69: Reflections on the Willard Straight Hall Takeover of April 1969. [Cornell University]. 2006. 1 videodisc (26 min.) Through interviews with five Cornell Black students, Catherine Galasso asks them to reflect on the significance of the Willard Straight Hall takeover. She wants to know what does it mean to them, and what is its message for the future. The takeover took place on April 19, 1969, when a group of Black students from the Afro-American Student Association occupied the building during parents’ weekend as continuing form of protest about racial issues on campus.
