Numismatics

This auxiliary collection supports research by historians, archaeologists, and classicists.

Current collection: CCI 2 (?) Language W

Most of the material acquired comes as volumes in standing order monographic series; the Library also maintains a core of basic scholarly journals. Monographic selection involves ordering obvious titles by scholars like Philip Grierson, plus an occasional exhibition catalog and a few works on U. S. coinage.

Subjects covered: CD, CJ, CN (some)

Coverage includes the study of coinage, medals and tokens of all countries and periods, except classical numismatics. Only scholarly works are selected.

Geographical information: no geographical restrictions, 40% Anglo-American, 60% foreign

Exclusion: No popular material intended for amateur collectors.
