Significant New Acquisitions

This service provides readers with glimpses of the Olin stacks through brief reviews written by Library selection officers. Inspired by the "Bookmark Series," published by the Library from 1962-1977, our monthly compilation illuminates the variety of materials entering the stacks and the insights of the librarians who select them. While books will comprise the largest single category of entries, this is not a book review, per se. The full range of paper, film and electronic media appears, and will continue to appear, herein.

Each entry consists of descriptive bibliography, location information and a short commentary. While several models for the entries' arrangement exist, we have decided to rely on classification, one of the librarian's basic tools, as most appropriate. Each month's postings appear within the Library of Congress scheme, reflecting the stacks themselves. A header, or table of contents, also organized by classification, gives the reader direct entry to the reviews.

The first number of this series corresponds to November 1998 and continues subsequently as below.
