Policy on Duplication of Library Materials

Cornell University Library does not subscribe to, order, accept, or retain exact duplicates of books, journals (serials), or back runs of journals without justification as to the a) usefulness of multiple copies to current Cornell research and teaching needs and/or b) historical importance owing to textual variants or unique physical characteristics (e.g. provenance, binding, annotations). This policy also needs to be taken into account in reviews of existing duplication in the collection.
