CUL Web Design Committee
Meeting 9/17/96

Minutes

Attending: Patricia O'Neill (chair), Tony Cosgrave, Michael Engle, Jill Powell, Barbara Prior, Meryl White (recorder)

Meryl agreed to serve as the recorder for the next six months or so. Barbara agreed to serve as the assistant chair. Jill has rejoined the group.

Tony spoke about a CGI for the library server. The CGI is a piece of software that replies to a form that someone submits. It responds by saying something like your form has been sent. Mann Library has a working version of this type of CGI and Tony has been working with Ben Trelease of Mann. However, it is not working because the Library server needs to be configured to use it. There are several items we need to follow up on with regard to the CGI. We need to see if the response pages are okay. We need to think about whether we'd like other response pages. Also, we may want to create an alias file of circulation e-mail box addresses. Patricia will send a note to circadmin-l to find out which libraries are interested in participating.

We will look at recall, renewal and ill forms next time on 10/1/96 at 10:30am. Patricia will contact Carmen Blankenship and/or Susan Currie about joining us.

Patricia reported on the CUL identity project.

We reviewed the OKU reference division homepage. It met the general requirements except for 2 items, which we talked with Michael about. We reviewed the Geneva Library homepage, which also met the general requirements. Michael is going to forward a list of our concerns to Peter. Meryl will send the URL of the Management Library homepage for review to the group as an experimental e-mail review, when she is ready.
