Replacing computers at ImageServer (eReserve)/ MyDocDelivery stations

Pertaining only to endowed CUL(E) locations (CULIT budget).

I believe we have enough spare SCSI cards on hand that'd support the scanners, so Michelle's idea of putting 'new' cards into the new computers and not swapping them from the old ones would work.

• Is there sufficient value to coordinate the creation of an image? Or, should each IT Support Provider configure as they see fit? Software applications and their versions, standardization of workflow, etc. might need to be considered from a broader perspective. Item currently parked in "PSEC's Access Services Committee", Chaired by Carmen Blankenship.
• Sufficient value in coordinating the timing of the upgrade? Or, should each area deploy as they see fit?
• Question: What form factor? Is our normal staff CPU OK for everyone?

  The regular desktop GX620's we're getting now will take low-profile PCI Express x16 or low-profile PCI cards. With a riser card though, they'll support full-height PCI Express x16 or PCI cards.

  [12/2/05] Update: SCSI cards won't fit GX 620's "desktop" chassis "as is". We're still awaiting arrival of riser cards so we can test those.
