January 2003.

Here are current LCD prices. Buying six or more results in about $10-15 each off Dell's premier prices, (not a huge savings.) All of these LCDs are Dell-branded.

CUL(E) has only bought the "high-end" LCDs in the past, both 15" and 17". I'm not aware of any "lower-end" models in CUL. One notable difference is that the "high-ends" have DVI and analog capabilities, whereas the "low-ends" only have analog. There may be other differences I don't know about. Note that almost all "high-ends" currently in CUL are run as analog, not DVI. DVI may become more important within the lifetime of these monitors, however.

15" LCD, lower-end: $263.20 at a "single unit" price

15" LCD, higher-end: $311.00 each, for six or more

17" LCD, lower-end: $389.00 each, for six or more

17" LCD, higher-end: $506.00 each, for six or more

For the 19" LCD, no "lower-end" model currently exists. Here's the "single unit" quote:

19" LCD, higher-end: $591.71 (updated 5/19/03) at a "single unit" price. [Linked quote is for $639.00, 1/27/03).]

I grabbed the intial "single unit" prices from Dell's premier site. All IT support staff should have access to this site since it allows you to get the lowest non-bulk pricing for items Dell sells. This will allow you to look at even more items than what I've posted here! Contact me, Oliver, at <cul-desktop-l>, if you need help with the Dell premier site.
