Announcements

• We extend Gail a warm thank you for her leadership as co-chair during the last 2 years!
• We welcome Camille as our new co-chair for 2006-2007.
• ReDS committee (Resource Discovery Systems Working Group): the implementation of WebBridge is targeted for Spring Break
• Gateway committee: this group has temporarily disbanded.

Updates on Print Publications

Camille updated all the "quick guides' (Catalog QuickGuide, Find Databases, Find Articles, Fine eJournals). She included the latest voyager upgrade - JABBR (Journal Abbreviations) in the Catalog QuickGuide. All Quick Guides are now available in the Copy Center located in Olin Library, and can be ordered online at: http://www.library.cornell.edu/documentation_committee/orderform.html

Voyager Upgrade and Unicode

Help pages on Unicode have been uploaded by Gail. She will add metadata so that the help pages are easily searchable for patrons familiar with CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) and other foreign languages.

Camille shared some of the highlights from Beth Katzoff's and Xian Wu's presentation about the upgrade and its impact on searching in foreign languages, such as CJK. We will create documentation derived from their presentation on search strategies. In addition, our help pages will have a link to "A quick and dirty guide on installing and using East Asian Languages with windows…." http://newton.uor.edu/Departments&Programs/AsianStudiesDept/Language/index.html

JABBR (Journal Abbreviations) and Find Images

JABBR - has been incorporated into the Library Catalog QuickGuide. We will add information about this feature into our Help pages.

Find Images: This new feature has integrated help pages; Camille will contact the Find Images committee to see if we need to create additional help pages.

Book Delivery Services and Annex requests.

The Annex request form/option will be phased out so that all book delivery services use the same form. Our documentation will be changed accordingly.

Technical Support section in the Gateway

Ken will contact Maureen Morris about adding a link to our Help pages for additional technical help in the "technical support" section of the Gateway. Amy B. will review the 'connecting from off-campus' information about Browsers and suggest changes by our next meeting.

Redesign of Library Help Pages

Ken is forging ahead with the re-design of the library pages. He is attempting to simplify the look of our help pages and reduce the number of layers that a user encounters to get to an answer.
