Documentation Committee Meeting
August 10, 2007
Sage 233

Present: Melody Padgett, Susan Kendrick, Amy Blumenthal, Staci Rogers, Glen Wiley, Jesse Koennecke

Announcements: Welcome new members

Meeting and note taking rotation schedule: We agreed to continue the first Friday of each month for the meeting time and alphabetical order (last name) for note taking and room reservations. Next meeting will be September 7th and Staci will reserve a room and be the note taker. We will vote on new co-chair duties when all members are present.

Approval of minutes: Minutes were approved.

Get It! Update (Jesse): The Authentication process to Library features (Patron info, Bookbag, Borrow Direct, etc.) is being streamlined. Perhaps in production by 9/20. Patrons will now have option to enter NetId and password or Cornell ID number. Library card holders will be able to enter card number. Borrow Direct documentation will be "lost"as it will skip this page, so it will need to be moved to another place. GetIt! Team would like new or updated information on how to log in. Services such as Borrow Direct, MyDD and ILL may all be listed under GetIt!, so that documentation may need to be merged or edited. Amy agreed to do some log-in testing.

Access Serves update(Melody):

  • There is work being done on Adaptive Technology pages and we need to decide if/where to put a link. Perhaps under the Technical Support heading? The page is at www.library.edu/services/disability.html . Susan will check with Maureen to see if they can add a link under the software heading on the main Gateway page as well.
  • There will be a course reserve tutorial created for faculty and we can add a link to the help page once it is approved. The link is www.library.cornell.edu/services/reserves.html The main link is on the Course Reserves page.
  • VPN (virtual private network) documentation (Amy): Her document about how to link when traveling is posted on her wiki. Amy will send this information to our Documentation Committee wiki as well. Committee agreed we should contact Reference and Outreach to announce this service.

    RefWorks Guide update: RefWorks handout/quick guide will be updated by Citation Management Group at which time we can check it and post it.

    Help Pages upcoming changes: still on hold for now.
