Meeting Minutes

Announcements:
- Thad Dickinson
is rotating off the committee. We thank him for all the work he's done during
his two years on the committee.
- Kizer has the
full Acrobat software package, so he will take over Thad's responsibilities
of transforming Word documents into pdf documents when necessary.
- Also in Thad's
stead, Kizer will be our representative on the Personalized Electronic Services
Working Group (MyLibrary).
- Ida will work
with Lynn on uploading pages to the server and running MakeKeywordIndex --
this will be done to preserve the practice of having two committee members
perform these services.
- Though we will
not aggressively seek a new member for the committee, Ida will make announcements
at IRPC meetings that the committee could benefit from having one more member.
- The IRPC steering
committee has approved the removal of all "dead" or non-current
help pages from the server. The new policy will be to keep on the server only
active pages and the next most recent version of any page (when significant
revisions are made). Ida will begin transferring non-current pages to CD.
Files on CD will be kept indefinitely by the committee Co-chairs.
- Lynn updated
the committee on the Gateway Committee II meetings:
- Library
link is #3 most frequently used link from CUInfo.
- A bulletin
board/suggestion box may be put on the Gateway soon.
- Sarah Chandler
and Nan Hyland reported on a user study of Find Articles/Find Databases.

- Lynn asked
us to offer feedback to the GCII committee on any Gateway changes we'd
like to see. We were encouraged to "think big."
New Business:
- Library-to-Library
Book Delivery help page: Ida will meet with Carmen Blankinship in the coming
weeks to develop a help page for this new service.
- MyDocumentDelivery
help page: There is already a help page for this -- we just need to provide
a link to it on the "My Library" help page. Ida will do this. In
the future we will need to revisit all the documentation for the MyLibrary
suite of services. Some help pages were created by this committee, others
by the Personalized Electronic Services Working Group (MyLibrary). They have
different looks and we should consider meeting with Angela at some point to
talk about making them more uniform.
- The MLA Citation
help page and handout needs to be updated to reflect text and examples in
the new 6th edition of the handbook. Lynn will update these two documents.
- Ida will update
the "Creating and Editing Gateway Help Pages" instructions for committee
members.
Continuing Business:
- All committee
members made significant progress on updating and reorganizing the Catalog
Help TOC and individual pages. Lynn's pages on Limits & Boolean Searching
have been uploaded. Thad directly edited all the pages under "Search
Types." Ida has to make a few minor changes to "About the CU Library
Catalog," and will consult with Carmen about some FAQ pages. Kizer completed
all edits to "Patron Information and Requests" and reorganized them
in a manner very similar to the changes Ida proposed in December.
- Ida will reorganize
the Catalog Help TOC and e-mail the committee when that is completed. Members
should review the changes and bring their thoughts about further reorganization
to the next meeting.
- Ida will speak
with Carmen about the elmination of online requests for closed stack items,
and then make any necessary edits to help pages that mention online closed
stack requests.
- Though not discussed
at the meeting, it should be noted that Ida updated the Library Gateway Bookmark
upon request from a CU Sciences Librarian. The new bookmark was announced
to IRPC via e-mail and is now on file in the Olin Copy Center.
