Documentation Committee Minutes

Present: Thad Dickinson, Mihoko Hosoi, Lee LaFleur, Jaime Martindale, Ida Martinez, Mary Patterson, and Kornelia Tancheva

Facilitator: Kornelia Tancheva

 

§         It was agreed that the responsibility of taking meeting minutes would rotate by the last name of each Committee member: Dickinson, Hosoi, Martindale, Martinez, Patterson, and Tancheva.

§         Kornelia proposed that certain on-going tasks be divided amongst the Committee:

o       Jaime will be responsible for updating and uploading the Committee homepage (http://gould.mannlib.cornell.edu/docwg/irpc_documentation_committee.html)

o       Mary will continue coordinating print documentation

o       Ida volunteered to monitor the Help pages and bring those that need updating to the attention of the Committee

o       Kornelia will continue to update the manifest file and running the Makekeyword Index

o       Thad will be responsible for uploading the server (or Gateway) pages

§         Recent Updates

o       Lee ran the link checker report, and Kornelia proceeded to fix the broken links.  All links on the Help pages should now work.

o       Netscape 1.0 and 2.0 were removed from the manifest file

o       Internet Explorer 6.0 pages were updated with the missing images

o       The Borrow Direct Help page was added to the server without objections

§         In Progress

o       Mary is continuing to update the ILL Help page

o       Ida explained that the HTML version of the APA guide is experiencing formatting problems when it is printed.  Kornelia will check the coding and see if she can make any changes.  Both the APA and MLA guides will soon be available in pdf.

o       Kornelia will make HTML changes to the Word changes Mary made to the e-Reference Help.

o       We discussed where to include the info on how information on different browsers displays on the problem connecting form and decided that Kornelia will contact Holly and suggest that this is included in staff-only communications rather than on the publicly available help pages.

 

 

 

§         New Pages

o       Kornelia explained that new Help pages will need to be created for the OPAC upgrade that will be happening soon.   She will keep Committee members posted.

o       New pages for Browser Help were assigned:

§         Netscape 6.2 (PC): Mihoko

§         Netscape 6.2 (Mac): Jaime

§         Netscape 7.0 (PC): Thad

§         Netscape 7.0 (Mac): Jaime

§         Unix 6.2 and 7.0: Kornelia

o       An “About Browsers” page will be created at a later date

§         Next Meeting

o       Distribution of OPAC upgrade pages (if available)

o       Meeting schedule for next semester
