IRPC Documentation Committee Meeting Notes of 03/14/00

Announcements and Old Business: Thanks to Lance Heidig, Lori Micho and Marianne Hansen, the MLA and APA style guides are now available; Suggestions were made for new additions to the glossary in Gateway Help; Nan distributed a rough draft of the style guide for comment in a later meeting;

Paper Documentation: Marianne pointed out that there are two errors in publication #6. It was generally agreed that we would like these 2 errors corrected but that no more revisions would be made for any of the paper documentation for NOTIS.

Voyager: Lance led the majority of the meeting demonstrating Voyager and the help pages that have been put together by other institutions. The documentation committee will need to work on four aspects with regard to the Voyager Help pages: Design, Procedures, Content and Paper Documentation. The committee generally agreed that Voyager help would work well within the existing Gateway Help structure. Lance and Nan will pursue this with the OPAC and Gateway committees.

Lance had written up an inventory of the pages that will likely need to be written  or adapted. These pages fit into specific categories. Each committee member took on responsibility for learning about and working on specific areas as follows:

Builder Searches: Angela and Elaine
Command Searches: Lance and Leah
Display Help: Nan and Lance
Course Reserve and Patron Help: Deb and Lori
Pages categorized as "Post Processing Help" such and printing, and EndNote was tabled until we knew more.
