Tuesday October 3.Attending: Angela Horne, Lance Heidig, Nan Hyland (chair), Elaine Krikorian, Deb Lamb-Deans, Lori Micho and Leah Solla
We looked at Marianne's revisions of the paper hand-out on Finding Articles from Periodicals. People liked it and would send comments on it to the group via e-mail. It was also agreed that we would like to have a similar hand-out on Journals and e-journals Leah volunteered to work with Marianne on this.We discussed the possibility of adding more "Finding Specific Types of Materials" such as Law and Theses finding aids We decided to wait until we had a firmer date for Voyager 2000 but want to do these relatively soon. Nan volunteered to write a short pages on theses.
Lance reported on the activities of the OPAC committee. There is no known date yet for the Voyager2000 implementation. The committee went through the FAQ and Known Problems for Voyager. We thought that most of the problems could be rewritten as questions. Deb volunteered to rewrite the following: the long id number, why can't I renew everything online (new), and the display of charged items in patron info. Lance volunteered to work on the "return to titles list" problem. We scrapped 4 items: items bound together, status messsages (repaired and in transit), items charged to carrels in Olin and the archival format limiting. The main reasons were that the scope or audience for these particular problems were too narrow. Nan will rewrite the rest. When the document is ready, Nan will add it to the Voyager help pages. Everyone should send their rewrites simply in email rather than creating a separate html document.
The next meeting will be scheduled after we hear more about the Voyager upgrade.
