Circulation Policies for Fine Arts Library

Library circulation policies are designed to ensure prompt and equitable access to all library materials. Specific policies may vary somewhat between different Cornell University Libraries and you should contact individual libraries to inquire about their policies. Please see our own pages on what circulates and what does not. Listed below are some of the most uniform guidelines:

  • You are required to have your Cornell ID in your possession to check-out any Fine Arts Library material. Your Cornell ID card is non-transferable, which means you may not loan or borrow ID cards.
  • You are personally responsible for the prompt and safe return of all library material checked-out to you. Do not loan your books to others or leave them in an area where they may be stolen. To ensure safe return, books should be returned to the unit they were borrowed from. The book drop is always open when the library is closed. Use Patron Information, available through the Cornell On-line Catalog, to keep track of book due dates.
  • It is your responsibility to keep your address updated with the library to ensure you receive notices promptly. Updates may be made via WHO I AM through Bear Access, with the Cornell Univeristy registrar in Day Hall.
  • Any item borrowed from the library is subject to recall at any time. We strongly urge you to return books to the library if you plan to be away from campus, particularly over breaks.
  • It is your responsibility to notify the Fine Arts Library immediately if you lose or misplace library material.
