Course Reserves

There are two types of reserve at the Fine Arts Library.

Permanent reserve refers to books placed on reserve by the library. This category is considered highly relevant AAP material and normally gets high usage.

Course reserve refers to the books and articles which are placed on reserve each semester at the request of teaching faculty to support classes on Art, Architecture, City Planning and History of Art. Items in this category will be removed from reserve at the end of each semester.

Loan Lengths

Reserves are available for either two hours or one day. Course reserve loan periods are determined by the professor.

Two Hour Loans

Permanent reserve materials are always in the two hour category, as are most required course reserve readings. Two hour reserve readings may go out as an overnight loan two hours before the library closes each day and are due two hours after the library opens the following day. Two renewals are allowed before a block is imposed.

One Day Loans

Optional or supplemental course reserve readings may be given a one day loan. These books may be checked-out at any time during the day and are due back by closing the following day. One day books may not be renewed.

Fines for reserve material are steep. Please be sure to return your material promptly!
