Hours
Monday through Thursday 9:00 am to 4:45 pm
Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

During hours when the Fine Arts Library is open, but the Reference Desk is not staffed, you can ask for help at the Circulation Desk. Staff there may be able to provide information or assistance.

If you need immediate assistance, you can also call the Olin Library Reference and Information Desks at 255-7030, or Ask a Librarian.

For less immediate requests, you can fill out a green Reference Referral Form located on the front of the Reference Desk or send an e-mail to fineartsref@cornell.edu. Reference staff will respond to your questions during the next scheduled Reference hours.

Request for Reference Research Consultation

The Reference Research Consultation Service is available to any member of the Cornell community working on a library research project, including undergraduate honors students, undergraduates writing major term papers, graduate students beginning thesis work, and faculty. A Reference Librarian will schedule an appointment with you to discuss your research project, and can:

  • provide assistance in selecting the best resources for your subject area
  • suggest strategies for searching specific databases
  • guide you in finding and using government documents and/or statistical resources
  • help you identify and locate primary sources
  • develop your research strategies or evaluate your library research process to date
  • help you search the Web for relevant and reliable information
  • explain how to gain access to material held by other libraries

Please fill out the online form or call 255-7148 to request a consultation.
