Request for Reference Research Consultation

The Reference Research Consultation Service is available to any member of the Cornell community working on a library research project, including undergraduate honors students, undergraduates writing major term papers, graduate students beginning thesis work, and faculty. A Reference Librarian will schedule an appointment with you to discuss your research project, and can:

  • provide assistance in selecting the best resources for your subject area
  • suggest strategies for searching specific databases
  • guide you in finding and using government documents and/or statistical resources
  • help you identify and locate primary sources
  • develop your research strategies or evaluate your library research process to date
  • help you search the Web for relevant and reliable information
  • explain how to gain access to material held by other libraries
