1. Kizer Walker reported his progress on the White Paper on Information fluency. He presented an outline of his work to date (see links) with the hope that his recommendations will formulate an information fluency initiative.
The White Paper will provide an environmental scan of instruction throughout Cornell University Library- including one shot instruction sessions, "remedial instruction" by the Learning Strategies Center, and the Knight Institute; as defined by both ACRL standards and the facets developed by accrediting institution the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
The desired outcomes are currently being defined. A gap analysis will be performed and an assessment of the areas needed for systematic information fluency instruction.
The groups feedback was that Kizer is off to a great start.
3. Spring Retreat: there has been one evaluation returned to date. Kornela has agreed to write to Anne to request money for an external speaker, and there has been no response yet from Lee. However, Anne has asked who the speaker is and what the retreat hoped to accomplish. These questions have not yet been answered. The following name/projects were suggested: Nancy Becker returning, SAIL project from Kent State, Ileen Rockwell from California State, a Professor from another library school in NY State.
