KudosBaseema Banoo, the interlibrary loan coordinator at Mann Library, recently won the 2005 Pegasys Award for a documentary that she and her husband (Ward Krkoska, bioacoustics shop manager at the Laboratory of Ornithology), wrote, produced, and directed. The video, entitled Albert R. Mann Library: A Life History, is the first of a three-part documentary series that appeared on public access television in December 2004. Last year Baseema and Ward won an award for a previous film on the Ithaca Breast Cancer Alliance. Keith Jenkins, the metadata librarian at Mann Library, was awarded a DLF (Digital Library Federation) Fellowship for Librarians New to the Profession. The purpose of the fellowship is to encourage newcomers to the profession, particularly those involved in digital librarianship. The DLF Forums remain an excellent place to hear about the latest advances in digital librarianship, to meet new colleagues and contacts, to get involved with DLF initiatives, and, since this year’s forum is in San Diego…, to enjoy an early taste of spring! Brenda Marston, the curator of the Human Sexuality Collection, is one of the editors of an encyclopedia just named one of the Outstanding Reference Sources of 2005 by the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), a division of the American Library Association. The Encyclopedia of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender History in America, edited by Marc Stein (3 vols., 1200 p.; New York: Charles Scribner’s Sons, 2004), is included in the list of “high-quality reference works that are suitable for small to medium-sized libraries.”Next: Events >
