Library Communications

The new Library Communications office is now open for business in 504 Olin Library. Our goal is to enhance and streamline communications at CUL through support for publications, events, and strategic marketing. This spring we are getting organized, formulating initial strategies, gathering information, and assessing CUL communication needs in concert with the Priority #4 Task Force (CUL Marketing & Communications Team). The office will work closely with the IRIS Design Team (Carla DeMello and Jenn Colt-Demaree) to produce print and Web publications.

There will be four members on the Library Communications staff:

Mary Beth Bunge (mbb3, 255-4813) officially came on board February 1 as the Library Communications director. Mary Beth is learning as much as she can about CUL and Cornell while organizing the new department, serving as team leader for the Priority #4 Task Force, and exploring new audience and marketing opportunities. She welcomes invitations to any and all unit libraries and departments to help her learn more!

Marty Crowe (mjc4, 254-8607) is working on a variety of special publications, primarily for “internal” audiences, including Inside CUL, Arts & Humanities Library News, and a new library guide for fall 2005. She serves as our resident editorial assistant and researcher.

Beth Fontana (eaf3, 255-3322) continues to focus on communications for external and “general” audiences (campus, community, alumni, national). She is working on reunion, several special external publications, and audience outreach strategy. She is our primary link to the Cornell News Service and Library Alumni Affairs & Development.

A part-time position has been posted for an events planner to organize events and provide administrative support to Library Communications.

In the coming months we plan to develop a CUL Communications Web site with tools, resources, and other communications and marketing assistance. Please contact Mary Beth Bunge with any questions, requests, or projects with which Library Communications might be able to assist.
