Kristine Alpi has been named to the editorial board of the Journal of the Medical Library Association.

Vergie-Savage Branch contributed content on medical library assistants to the Medical Librarian entry in the 33rd edition of the Health Professions Career and Education Directory, 2005-06.

Marty Crowe is a contributor to the 2004 MLA International Bibliography, which is now available electronically and will soon be out in print. MLA executive director Rosemary G. Feal notes that Marty’s contribution is a substantial one, and that “the bibliography is the major reference work in the fields of literature, linguistics, and folklore. It is compiled by MLA staff members and by a network of distinguished scholars. Those who contribute to this effort provide an important service both to scholars and to the international scholarly community. I am grateful to have the assistance of Ms. Crowe in this endeavor.” Congratulations, Marty!

Peter Hirtle has received a grant of $400,000 from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for Building Collections, Building Services, Building Sustainability: A Collaborative Model for the HBCU Library Alliance.

Adnan Malik has received an award of $4,785 from the British Library for Endangered URDU Periodicals: Preservation and Access for Vulnerable Scholarly Resources.

It’s been a good month for Pat Viele in print. The September issue of Information Outlook (p. 19) includes her article “How Do We Serve Thee? Let Us Count the Ways.” Pat has also contributed to the WebSights column in the October issue of The Physics Teacher (p. 479): "How to Evaluate Websites: Obtaining the Modeling Physics Curriculum.” Very nice, Pat.

The following Weill Cornell Medical Library staff members have been honored for their service: Stephen J. Bright (Interlibrary Services, 25 years), Kevin J. Pain (Information Services, 20 years), (Computer Services, 10 years), John McCauley (Circulation Services, 10 years), and Michael Wood (Collection Development, 10 years).

Two posters were presented by Weill Cornell Medical Library staff at the 2005 UNYOC & NY-NJ Annual Meeting in Lake Placid from September 28-30:
