Trees and Mushrooms: New Virtual Exhibits on the Mann Web Site

Keepers of the Hill: The Trees of Cornell
In fall 2004, Matthew Pace ’07 captured the transcendent beauty of Cornell’s trees on film for his Art in Horticulture class project. The following spring Mann Library hosted a display of Matthew’s photography in the library’s first-floor gallery alley. Now Matthew’s beautiful tribute to Cornell’s leafy, old, sometimes bent and gnarled, but always majestic, treasures can be viewed online.

Mycological Marvels: Selections from the Mann Library Collection

Mycological Marvels—the title of Mann’s newest online exhibit—has a double meaning: it refers both to the wondrous world of fungi and to the extraordinary group of mycological books found in Mann Library’s collection. From seventeenth-century treatises that establish mycology as a formal science to modern multimedia field guides and groundbreaking ethno-botanical studies, the exhibit captures a little of the fascination, delight, and sometimes horror that mushrooms have inspired among scientists, artists, writers, cooks, and amateur collectors over the ages.
