Mark FunkMark E. Funk, Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP), the head of Collection Development of the Samuel J. Wood Library and the C.V. Starr Biomedical Information Center, Weill Cornell Medical College, was elected president of the Medical Library Association (MLA) for 2007/08.  This is the fourth time Mark has been elected by his peers to serve the association on a national level. Twice a member of the MLA Nominating Committee, he also served on the MLA Board from 2000 to 2003, during which time he acted as the Board’s treasurer.  One of MLA’s most active members and a Distinguished Member of AHIP, Mark has lent his talents to numerous MLA-affiliated chapters, sections, and committees.  A leader in the field of collection development, he is currently a member of MLA’s Scholarly Publishing Task Force.  He previously served as a jury member for the Louise Darling Medal for Distinguished Achievement in Collection Development in the Health Sciences, chair of MLA’s Research Section in 1992/93, and chair of the Collection Development Section in 2004/05.  Mark will assume the role of president-elect at the conclusion of the 2006 MLA Annual Meeting in Phoenix.
