IRIS News and Notes, July 2002Contents:IRIS launchedVision, mission, and values Administrative structure Calendar of events See July News and Updates for Details I am pleased to report that we have concluded a successful six-month transition and the IRIS organization is officially launched! Beginning this month, the Web site will serve as the official communication vehicle for information on and about IRIS. It will also continue to provide a means for input by all IRIS staff members and other interested individuals within Cornell University Library and beyond. You will find links here to our Vision, Mission, and Values Statement; the Administrative Structure; and to announcements, reports, policy statements, and a calendar of events. Click on the "What's New!" image to view the Library's New Student Reading Project Web site, designed by Carla DeMello and Lance Heidig. The IRIS vision is to bring individuals and information together. Our mission is to serve as a "vital component in the Library's goal of maintaining its place as the primary information resource for Cornell University." In fulfilling this mission, our primary focus is on users, and our goal is the provision of high quality content, expanded access, responsive services, and learning opportunities. IRIS will thrive on innovation, build on the staff's tradition of excellence, and create opportunities for development and growth. New programs and initiatives will not come at the expense of essential services, and all will be treated as valued functions. Recognizing that the success of the organization depends on the willingness of all IRIS staff to be engaged in shaping its future, we look forward to hearing from you, either directly or via the suggestion box.
