The Building Collections project, a partnership between the Cornell University Library, the Historically Black College and University Library Alliance (HBCU Library Alliance), the Southeastern Library Network (SOLINET) and the Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Center (AUC), is an effort to prepare HBCU librarians to carry out a digital collections production initiative and to develop an Internet-based, searchable database of HBCU library materials with descriptive information and select digitization of historic pages. Supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, these rich digital resources will be developed and permanently maintained at individual HBCU libraries and the HBCU Library Alliance.
