Job Opportunities Cornell University Library Director of Instruction and Learning Cornell University Library (CUL) seeks innovative and dynamic applicants for the position of Director of Instruction and Learning. The successful candidate will develop and lead a Division of Instruction, which will be a cornerstone for the newly formed organization within CUL: Instruction, Research, and Information Services (IRIS). IRIS is the largest of the CUL organizations, with over 150 staff members who work collaboratively to support instruction and learning, public services, research, preservation, collection development, and public programming. The world renowned Asia Collections (Echols, Wason, and South Asia) plus the Africana, Fine Arts, and Music Libraries round out the membership of IRIS. The Director of Instruction and Learning will embrace an entrepreneurial and forward-looking approach to creating this Division, building upon Cornell's distinquished reference and instruction program and its international preeminence in research and training in preservation and digital library initiatives. Cornell University Library enjoys a well-deserved reputation for delivering exemplary services and resources as recognized in the 2002 ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award. The Director of Instruction and Learning will expand CUL's technical and bibliographic instruction program serving the humanities and social sciences, collaborate with other divisions in promoting information literacy and lifelong learning, and coordinate additional educational offerings through institutes, workshops, tutorials, internships, and residencies designed to meet the continuing education needs of library and information professionals around the world.
