File Format and Media Migration Pilot Service
This one-year pilot project aims to identify the need for and processes involved with offering a data conversion service to rescue information stored on obsolete media or formats.
CLIR E-journal Archiving Project
Under the sponsorship of ARL and CLIR, we will produce a report about preservation strategies for electronic journals. The team is focusing its attention on significant preservation programs that archive peer-reviewed journal literature produced by the publisher in digital form, operated by not-for-profit organizations.
KMODDL White Paper
As part of KMODDL (Kinematic Models for Design Digital Library), an IMLS-supported project, we are investigating best practices for the integration of 3D digital objects of all kinds into digital library collections. We will produce a white paper addressing questions of taxonomy, description, access provision, asset management, and preservation for 3D digital objects of various formats.
Virtual Remote Control
Virtual Remote Control is an approach and implementation of a risk management model to digital preservation. VRC presents a methodology and compilation of tools for monitoring and identifying potential risks of loss of Web-based information.
Ongoing Publication Support
RLG DigiNews, a bimonthly electronic newsletter that focuses on digitization and digital preservation, is produced by the staff of the CUL Research and Assement Services in consultation with RLG staff.
Google meets eBay
This small project assessed the Google Answers service and its implications for reference services at research libraries.
Convenient Business Hours
This project combined various patron access data and a patron survey to determine optimal library hours of operation.
LARIS Library and Related Information Services Workforce Planning Review
The Review includes a university self-study and an external review.
Political Communications Web Archiving (pdf)
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded a grant to the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) for a project entitled: Political Communications Web Archiving. Cornell University Library was one of four universities subcontracting with CRL to explore the curatorship, technology, and long-term resource management components of the project.
This project was funded by Mellon as part of their Electronic Journal Archiving initiative.
Digital Imaging Workshop
The Digital Imaging and Preservation Policy Research of the CUL Preservation and Conservation Department developed a series of digital imaging workshops. NEH funded the development and delivery of the most recent workshop series, which was completed in May 2002.
Digital Imaging Tutorial
This online tutorial was developed as part of the NEH Digital Imaging Workshop series. It is publicly available on English and Spanish, and French.
