Voyager Circulation/Reserve Workflow Task Force
Minutes, 2/29/00

Susan gave a brief overview of some of the circulation screens. Deb reminded everyone to come to Academic Assembly on March 2 for a demonstration of Voyager clients. Deb, Carmen and Howard gave a brief training update. They are working on organizing a series of sessions for circulation and reserve. One thing that will be needed is a "NOTIS to Voyager" translation table (e.g. NOTIS charge ID becomes Voyager patron barcode, item condition becomes item status, etc.).

Marty Kurth then demonstrated the set of search configurations done by his subcommittee (Ed Zieba , David Banush and Betsy Gamble). Marty explained the basics of the screens as well as some basics of the searches. There are 120 searches available for Voyager and these particular search configurations represent an attempt to customize searching to fit our needs more. . The builder search allows us to search selected combinations of fields such as title and author (TKEY and NKEY). Marty pointed out that serials are searched in the non-keyword searches. The format in the fixed fields allows searches of serials. The choice of "any of these" means "or", "all of these" means "and". These search configurations will be across all client modules (cataloging, acquisitions and circulation).

Staff are encouraged to take a look at the tables outlining the search configurations. If there is a "no" in the staff column, it means this will be excluded from the drop down search menu. These search configurations are available for viewing on the CUL Voyager website at: http://www.library.cornell.edu/voyager/

Diane and Susan gave data migration updates. There was a problem with temporary locations and item loan codes. We hope to meet with Jana to ask about this. The patron file migration is also progressing. The Voyager Access Services Implementation Committee will be testing the circulation system and the Bursar transfer next week.
