OPAC/Gateway Configuration Team
Notes from the January 31, 2000 meeting

Attending: Lynn Brown, Karen Calhoun, Elaine Engst, Lance Heidig, Tom Gale, Philip Herold, Fred Muratori, Pat Schafer, Noni Vidal, Ed Weissman

1) Record displays
Fred went over changes he has made to record displays. He has made two displays equivalent as to the information included to the "brief" and "long" displays in Notis. Fred made the 8xx series field redirectable (i.e., a hot link which when selected results in a new search for the series title.) We asked Fred to experiment by including the summary note (MARC 520) in the "brief" display. We also asked Fred to experiment by having the URL (856 tag) display directly under the title.

2) Headings lists and Scope note/References pages
Ed reported that he had asked Noni to change the text on the tabs "Headings" and "Titles" to "Headings list" and "Titles list." The Team approved these changes.
Ed described the options for configuring the headings list pages and showed examples from LC, Penn, and Wisconsin. We agreed to change the label on the "See also" and "Notes" buttons to "More info." We also agreed to leave, for now, the column "Heading type." On the Scope note page, we agreed to change "References for" to "Information for." On the References page, we agreed to add explanatory text to the terms "See references", "See also references"and "Narrower Term" (Lance will review and edit the text) and to eliminate the term "Broader term" since we will not have any broader term references for now.

3) Title lists
Lynn began to explain title list page options. We'll continue with title list configuration issues at our next meeting.
