Development Project Working Group Meeting Minutes--January 25, 2000 Present: Susan Currie, Surinder Ghangas, Linda Miller, Lynne Personius, Pat Schafer Lynne and Pat briefed the group on their meeting in San Antonio at ALA Midwinter with Endeavor's Verne Coppi, Cindy Miller, and Donna Smith and GFA's Chris Brennan. Lynne replicated the diagram on Pat's white board that Verne drew at the meeting that demonstrated how the interface would work. At startup there would be a mass location change as the Voyager database and the GFA database are reconciled. After that Voyager and GFA would interact dynamically for requests, adds and deletes. Chris Brennan indicated that approach proposed by Verne was doable from GFA's perspective. Verne agreed to send GFA and Pat documentation on Endeavor's Archival Retrieval System and the proposed interface. After reviewing the documentation, GFA will make a proposal to Cornell for their part of the project. All agreed that it would probably not be necessary to have a working meeting at Cornell. Pat and Lynne said that both vendors said that the work should be completed by Cornell's move to Voyager 2000 in August. Lynne said that she would ask our new Project Manager to turn on the 99.1 ARS so that we could get a look at it. Surinder agreed to contact Steve Gilbert before our regularly scheduled meeting to make sure that he understood the issues discussed at the ALA meeting and agreed with Chris' assessment that the approach was doable from GFA's perspective. Lynne and Pat told the group that Verne requested a conference call to discuss further the location change/MFHD issue. The group agreed that Diane Hillmann should be invited to participate in that conference call. Pat told the group that she planned to schedule a meeting with Lee Cartmill the following regarding the necessary new server and the possibility of funding it on an Annex Project account. Lynne said that she would supply Pat with added cost information regarding ongoing maintenance prior to the meeting. Until the interface is "live", the Annex will essentially have two servers, i.e. the new one in test and the current one in production. That will ensure no deterioration in service. The next meeting will be Friday, January 28, in Pat's office. Pat Schafer |
