Development Project Working Group Minutes - November 15, 1999 Present: Verne Copi, Susan Currie, Tom Hickerson, Cindy Miller, Lynne Personius, Pat Schafer Two members of the group, Susan Currie and Pat Schafer, were able to take advantage of Verne Copi's and Cindy Miller's visit to Cornell to have a special meeting with them and Lynne Personius and Tom Hickerson. Since Verne and Cindy had not seen the October work flow report that the group gave to Marlene, Susan gave them her copy. We then discussed the issues concerning the group. Verne said that CallSlip should be used for non-public access storage areas in libraries on campus, but not for requesting material from the Annex. Verne said that there is a separate feature called Automated Retrieval that should be used for Annex requests. He said that he would turn this on. We then discussed some of the features in the GFA system that might have to be modified to accommodate the interface with Endeavor. In regard to location changes, Verne said that Endeavor has a program that avoids the MFHD location problem. It manipulates the permanent location in the item record. The Cornell representatives responded positively to this news. Subsequently, Susan, Lynne and Pat talked to Diane Hillmann, who pointed out the potential problems with this approach. Lynne communicated this to Verne and Cindy later in the week and said that we were still interested in doing bulk changes to the location in the MFHD. Diane and Lynne will meet with the Working Group on December 3 to develop a list of concerns about the permanent location approach, which Lynne will forward to Verne. Pat will contact Steve Gilbert at GFA in early December and brief him on the project plans. This will likely take the form of a conference call with other members of the Working Group. Following that conversation, she will communicate with Verne and organize the connection with GFA. Both vendors will write specifications to which Cornell will respond. Verne said that work should be completed by the end of March for Beta Release 2000. P. Schafer Chair |
