Voyager Migration WG, Minutes of meeting 12/7/99

Attending: Susan Currie, Diane Hillmann (chair), Peter Hoyt, Jim LeBlanc, Linda Westlake
Absent: Bill Kara, Lynne Personius, Scott Wicks

Diane reported briefly that the migration specifications (consisting of a completed questionnaire, a set of spreadsheets and an additional email message) were sent to Endeavor on Monday. The group reviewed several outstanding issues:
1. Linda’s request to have the contents of the NOTIS vendor “Pay” address “Notes” field (consisting of university vendor ID code for endowed activity) be migrated to the Voyager “Institution ID” field in the vendor header record. (see her email of 6Dec99)
2. The need to compile a list of projects we determined not to ask Endeavor to do, because we felt we could do a better job ourselves.

Diane reiterated that the information contained in the locations spreadsheets and the bibliographic, holdings and authority decisions spreadsheets would be transferred to a website as soon as practicable, so that these would be available to everyone.

Jim LeBlanc reported on the status of the test plan for bibliographic, holdings and authority records. Progress is being made in populating the spreadsheets with examples, and catalogers would be solicited for their help in finding appropriate records for testing. For difficult conditions, SAS reports would be requested. Pete brought up the possibility of setting up automatic tests, but after some discussion it was felt that it would be better to have experienced catalogers examining records, since they would likely come up with problems other than those we were specifically testing, just in the process of eyeballing hundreds of records.

Susan commented that she would like to set up some tests for circulation conditions, and Diane agreed to assist her with a test plan on the model of bib/hold/auth. A prototype test plan will be added to the website, with instructions in setting up and using a test plan for the units testing their own locations.
