Library to Library Book Delivery
Help: Research Services and Support: Library to Library Book Delivery

Library-to-Library Book Delivery is a service for Cornell-affiliated patrons. Patrons can request that a book be shipped from one library to a library of their choosing for more convenient pick-up. Requests are made electronically using the CU Library Catalog.

Quick facts to know about Library-to-Library Book Delivery:

  • Only normal loan books can be requested. Periodicals, reserve materials, and short term loan items such as videso, DVDs, etc., are not included in this service.
  • The Library Annex is not included in this service. For information on how to request an item from the annex, click here.
  • Patrons cannot make requests to have books paged and picked up from the same location.
  • Requests will be filled within 48 hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Books requested and delivered will be held for 9 days. If not picked up, they will be shipped back to their original location.

How to make a Library-to-Library Book Delivery Request:

  1. On any computer, open the catalog record for the item you are requesting.
  2. Click on the Requests tab along the top of the page.
  3. If you are not already logged on, you will be prompted to enter your Cornell Net ID and password.
  4. From the drop down menu under, "Please Choose the Type of Request," choose Book Delivery (Library to Library) (xxx) -- the numbers in the second parentheses indicates the balance of the number of items you can check-out.
  5. Click OK.
  6. A screen will appear for you to indicate which library you want the book delivered to, and you must enter your Cornell ID number again.
  7. Click Submit Request.
  8. You will receive a confirmation that your request was successfully completed.
  9. You will receive an e-mail when the book is ready to be picked up at the library you chose.

Once you make a Library-to-Library Book Delivery request, you can monitor the status of your request under the "Request Information" section of your Patron Information account.
