Industry Codes Web Sites
- North American
Industry Classification System On April 9, 1997, the North American Industry
Classification System (NAICS) became the new standard code system to describe
business establishments and industries, replacing the Standard Industrial
Classification (SIC) codes. This new system used by the United States, Mexican,
and Canadian Governments will be used to collect and distribute statistical
information. This site provides information about NAICS, allows code searches by industry, and has an SIC -> NAICS converter.
- Standard Industrial
Classification site allows the user to search the 1987 version SIC manual by keyword, to
access descriptive information for a specified 4-digit SIC, and to examine the manual
structure. The SIC manual is published by the National Technical Information Service.
