Stocks Web Sites
- FT.com provides the full-text of
about 1/3 of the current day's issue of Financial Times.
It contains a searchable archive of 30 days. It also provides
exchange rates, share prices, equity index prices, company briefings,
and leading economic indicator data for several countries. The site is free
but requires user to register.
- Multex
Investor provides company snapshots, free real-time stock
(and major U.S. index) quotes, price charts, and articles
from PRN and BW newswire services. It also provides user with
stockscreening tools and industry, sector, and company rankings
(biggest movers) on over 10,000 equities trading on the NYSE,
Nasdaq, AMEX, and OTC Bulletin Board. Detailed financials
& ratios are available.
- Morningstar allows users to search by company name for quicktake reports, which include stock performance,
financial statements, market capitalization, dividends, newswires, and more.
Screen for a ranking of companies based on a variety of criteria.
Review Morningstar shortlists and read Morningstar columns on many
investment topics. Includes information on how use benchmarks. Other parts
of this site require a $9.95/mo subscription fee.
- TeleStock: Stock Price Data
provides daily prices on stocks traded on U.S. and some European exchages. From January
1995-present. Data can be saved in Quicken or text format. Ticker symbol must be in
caps with a country code appended, e.g. MSFT.y (y = U.S. stocks; each country has its own
code). Includes access to quotes and charts of more than 60,000 shares, bonds, options, etc. It also contains information about stocks traded on the NYSE/AMEX, NASDAQ, OPRA, NYMEX, COMEX, etc. (Parts of this site require Shockwave Software.)
- Yahoo! Finance provides histories on U.S. stocks back to the 1970's, downloadable in .xls format. Data available in daily, weekly, or monthly format and available unadjusted or adjusted for splits and dividends. Search by ticker symbol, click Profile, and click Historical Quote Data.
- Zacks Investment Research specializes in corporate earnings estimates. This site provides free estimates, but charges for analyst reports.
