Information
Use of Materials Within the Library
Cornell alumni have on-site access to most resources and materials
that are needed for professional or scholarly research purposes.
Exceptions include subscription-based resources, such as Capital
IQ, Euromonitor Passport, Gartner, Mintel and Wharton Research
Data Service (WRDS).
Use of Materials Off-Site
Cornell alumni have free access to CareerBeam, career assessment
and research database, as well as two article databases of current
and historical information on companies, executives, industries,
trends, and more:
- CareerBeam
helps job seekers and career switchers to determine what you
want in your career and offers the steps to achieve it. If
you are looking for financial data, CareerBeam has US and
international stock filings, annual reports and company historical
data via Mergent Online. If you seek industry information,
we recommend accessing CareerBeam's First Research reports
written for over 200 industries. For contacts information,
please refer to CareerBeam's Hoover’s database records. Alumni
can register for CareerBeam through Johnson
Alumni Connection (JAC).
- Business Source: Alumni Edition. Business Source has a
business and management focus and includes Datamonitor Reports,
global industry and country reports, as well as trade publications
ranging from the Johnson School's very own Administrative
Science Quarterly to the trade journal Telecomm Asia.
Access available through Johnson
Alumni Connection (JAC).
- Academic Search: Alumni Edition. Academic Search is more
broad-based and includes publications in science, education,
and energy. Access available through Johnson
Alumni Connection (JAC).
In addition to these databases, Cornell alumni have free access
to our online collection of business
research guides and business
Web sites.
Cornell alumni are encouraged to explore electronic collections
of business resources offered by a local public library. It
has become increasingly common for public libraries to offer
remote access to databases like Business Source Complete, Hoover's,
and Factiva. For your convenience, we've included links to some
of the most popular business database collections offered through
public libraries:
Boston Public Library's Business Resources
Chicago Public Library's Business Resources
Los Angeles Public
Library's Databases
New York Public Library's Science Industry and
Business Library (SIBL)

or phone (607-255-3389) during reference
hours to assist you with career research and help you locate
business resources available in your area.
