Information Workshops - Spring 2008
Below is an alphabetical listing of our library workshops for this semester. Registration is required for each session; a registration link follows the workshop description. If you have a question about any of our workshops, or have an idea for an additional workshop, please use our Ask A Librarian form.
Workshop Materials
Bloomberg Excel API: This introductory workshop will show the basics of how to use the Bloomberg Excel API to pull data on securities. Meet in the Management Library by the Bloomberg Terminal. Registration is required .

Building Better Business Plans: Writing a business
plan? This workshop provides time-saving research strategies and
demonstrates key resources used in successful business plan writing.
Overview resources that: provide industry trends, identify competitors,
and assess your customer market. Be sure to bring your laptop! Registration is required .

Consumer Market Research: This hands-on class for consumer market research will demonstrate the best resources for researching market share, brands, and consumer expenditures. Databases that will be demonstrated include: Mintel, Global Market Information Database, Productscan, and Simmons' Choices 3. Meet in the Parker Center. Registration is required .
International Business Resources: Learn how to use a variety of library databases focusing on the international business information that allows you to analyze business risk. Learn how to find economic indicators, international market and industry data, and country risk ratings. Meet in the PeopleSoft Lab. Registration is required .
Interview Preparation: Research Makes the Difference: Do you want to be well-prepared at corporate briefings? Are you starting out in your search for a job and aren't sure where to begin? This class will give you hands-on practice using the best tools for company and industry research. Whether you're looking for a summer internship or beginning an independent job search, this class is for you. Meet in the PeopleSoft Lab. Registration is required .

Introduction to Bloomberg: Become familiar with one of the world's
premier financial databases. Bloomberg
provides extensive coverage of global financial markets. Learn
how to find the data to evaluate equities, assess market conditions,
analyze industries, and use various comparison techniques. Many
of Bloomberg's unique navigational shortcuts and codes will be
demonstrated, including the customized keyboard and dual-monitor
environment. Meet in the Parker Center. Registration is required .
