Search Tips

  Search Essentials
The Management Library search sytem allows you to search the entire content of the Mangagement Library web site. Simply enter any words or phrases into the search box on the library home page and press "Search" or use the advanced search functions at the top of the search results page. Search results are displayed and sorted by relevancy. Search terms will appear in bold type within the search results.
  Choosing Search Terms
It is generally a good idea to start with broad search terms and then add more specific terms if the initial search produces too many results. For example, to search for information on entrepreneurship, you could begin with a search for entrepreneurship. To see a list of library workshops involving entrepreneurship, search for entrepreneurship workshop. To see library resources concerning venture capital for entrepreneurs, search for entrepreneurship venture capital, etc.

Search terms are not case sensitive. All characters, regardless of how they are typed, will be understood as lower case.

  Advanced Searching
There three search options available with advanced search: all the words, exact phrase, or any of the words. The default type is all the words but the setting can be changed using the radio buttons underneath the search box. In most cases, the type of search will determine the number of results. For example, searching for business plan using all the words is the same thing as searching for business and plan. Every result will contain both words, although the words might not appear next to each other. To keep the words as a phrase, use exact phrase. This type of searching will generally produce fewer results because the terms will always appear next to each other, in the order typed. Finally, searching for business plan with any of the words is the same thing as searching for business or plan and will produce the largest set of results.
  Word Variations
The Management Library search sytems employs automatic truncation (stemming) of words. It is not necessary to append any type of wildcard character. For example, searching for entre will produce results with entrepreneur, entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial, etc.
