Title: Personal Investing 101
Description:
According to the
Federal Reserve, the total pension asset reserves for 2000 were approximately
$9 trillion dollars. Defined contribution plans alone, such as 401(k)
plans, accounted for $1.7 trillion dollars and 67% of these dollars
were in individual equities and mutual funds. It's estimated that the
U.S. savings rate will drop below 0 this year and yet 41.1% of all U.S.
households hold some equity position in the markets. Most likely, either
through direct investment opportunities or some type of retirement plan, you
are a shareholder. "Personal Investing 101" will introduce participants
to key concepts, terminology and financial resources available on
the Net. Through a combination of database demonstration and
hands-on exploration, participants will learn how to track their investments
and make sense out of the "numbers". Whether
"bullish" or "bearish", come and explore the databases
that make tracking the markets easy, informative and fun.
