New and Notable CD/DVD Acquisitions (to Spring '07)
Introduction Since we have no "new CD shelf," we try to use the Music Library web site as a forum to bring new CDs and DVDs to the attention of faculty and students. These capsule reviews will appear on an irregular basis, depending in part on the types of materials we're acquiring at any given time. Also, these don't cover every CD and DVD acquisition, just a snapshot of those judged (in our subjective way) to be of special interest to the Music Department. Reviews are written by me, Andrew Justice (AJ) (specializing in early music), or Stephen Gorbos (SG) (specializing in contemporary music); many thanks to Andrew and Steve for their insightful and well-informed contributions. Anyone else with an interest in contributing CD reviews should drop me an email; we depend on volunteer reviewers for this service to continue. Please note that this column was possible largely because of volunteers. Andrew departed for the University of North Texas, Stephen has moved on with his graduate work, and a shift in responsibilities has left me with less time for the relative luxury of regularly writing about CDs. These pages will not be updated. However, I hope to post reviews or at least new-acquistion lists, on a semi-regular basis, on the Music Library blog. As always, if there are materials that you feel we should be focusing on that are not appearing here or in the catalog, please let me know.
