Web documents compared to print documents

Advantages of Web documents vis a vis print:

  • Remote access

  • Non-linear

  • Self-guided/interactive

  • Direct links to the full text rather than footnotes

  • Directories are easy to construct

  • Easy to update

  • Multimedia

Disadvantages of Web documents vis a vis print:

  • Little control over display due to variation in browser implementation of tags

  • No indexes

  • URLs are awkward to use

  • Display of images, videos, sound is slow

  • Browsing is difficult
