Kroch Asia Library houses the majority of Asian American Studies materials in the humanities and social sciences, including history, literature, anthropology, linguistics, sociology, religion, and more.

Materials relevant to Asian American Studies are also housed in discipline-specific libraries such as Music, Fine Arts, ILR, Law, plus Mann (education & health sciences), Olin & Uris (humanities and social sciences), and others.

Collection Development for Asian American Studies resources are handled by the Asia Curators in Kroch Library. To recommend a purchase in Asian American Studies for the library collection, Cornell faculty, staff, and students can complete an online Purchase Request form, or contact Beth Katzoff directly. Beth will forward your purchase recommendation to the appropriate Curator and address your questions about library services, policies, collection or any other aspect of the library.


Library Instruction and Research Consultations for Asian American Studies

The digital revolution has made an enormous amount of information available to researchers in Asian American Studies and related disciplines, but discovering resources and using them effectively can be challenging, both for incoming freshmen and seasoned scholars.

The library provides instruction in using its resources for classes from freshmen- to graduate-level seminars.

Library Research Guide for Asian American Studies

The Asian American Studies Research Guide categorizes and annotates over 75 Asian American Studies information resources, primarily from CU Library reference collections. Included are encyclopedias, handbooks, guides, bibliographies, dictionaries, almanacs, print indexes, online databases, and more. Information on the page is reviewed and updated regularly.

This 6-volume encyclopedia provides the most thorough coverage of the Asian American experience past and present ever published in a single multivolume reference source. The information found in this reference set cannot readily be found elsewhere. Highlights the role of Asian Americans in the arts, education and scholarship, government and politics, science and technology, sports, and many other fields. Entries cover such broad topics as the Asian American Movement, Families, the Model Minority, Asian American Women and more. Charts, tables, graphs and more than fifty maps complement the text.

The online version of the Bibliography of Asian studies (BAS) contains more than 410,000 records on all subjects (especially humanities and social sciences) pertaining to East, Southeast and South Asia published worldwide from 1971 to the present. Includes relevant materials on Asian Americans.

Database for the study of modern Asia Pacific. As the exclusive licensee for many of the region's most prestigious research institutions, Asia-Studies.com brings together thousands of full-text reports covering 53 countries on a multitude of business, government, economic, and social issues. Includes some materials on Asian Americans.
