Access Services Program Committee

ASPC Steering Committee Minutes,

Meeting of June 12, 1998

Present: Carmen Blankinship, Susan Currie, Deb Lamb-Deans, Lori Micho, Howard Raskin

1.CUL Reserve and Copyright: Discussions within ASPC along with the original posting on circadmin-l asking reserve staff to discuss with supervisors and unit heads and with Patricia McClary's approval, the CUL Reserve Guidelines can now go to PSEC. Deb will take the revised text to PSEC.

2. Campus Mail Delivery Schedule With the announcement of a new once a day delivery schedule starting June 15, there was some concern over the timely delivery of library notices. Carmen contacted Susan Morse to check out how this announcement affects the library. Susan Morse reported that this change does not affect the U.S. mail schedule, only the campus mail service. Campus mail will be delivered a bit later but should still be within an effective time range. Circulation staff should monitor mail delivery for any change or problems.

3. Tactical Plan: We reviewed the tactical plan noting those goals and objectives for Access Services which have been met or are in progress. Deb will take these to PSEC.

4. Handouts: We began reviewing all CUL handouts relating to Access Services. We will touch bases with the IRPC committee for format. All revised handouts will also be distributed to ASPC for input and comments.

5. 6.4.1 Testing Carmen has invited Joel Zumoff to the next ASPC Steering committee meeting to discuss circulation/reserve testing for the implementation of 6.4.1. Members of the ASPC will be contacted to participate in training, which scheduled for July 6 - 10.

6. LMS Evaluation Process Howard and Deb reviewed the site visits. Susan participated in the conference call to UCLA on Thursday, June 11th. UCLA is just beginning implementation of TAOS so we will be interested in talking with them again when they are a bit further along in testing. Susan and Carmen will be attending ALA and plan to take the circulation/reserve/ILS scenarios and questions when they visit vendor booths and demonstrations. They will send a report to ASPC on their findings as well as on all the meetings they attend.
