1/22/99
Lori Micho, Howard Raskin, Carmen Blankinship, Susan Currie, Deb Lamb-Deans
1. Patron load: Carmen will contact Joel (our new contact) about the schedule for the student loads this semester. We still are not sure when we will begin to get the new faculty/staff load. Susan wrote up a summary report of the patron load which she sent to Ross. We are waiting for a reply.
2. Senior Class Info Fair: CUL has been asked to participate in this, scheduled 2/299 (Table #12). This is an opportunity for seniors to get information on how to clear up bills, etc. We will be looking from Access Services for volunteers to staff this table at next week's meeting. We recommend that the policy guides and Guide To Cornell Library be available.
3. Security: We asked Lori to take the "Security Policy" to the Documentation Committee and have it made available as a CUL document, similar to our policy handouts.
4. Stacks Survey: Columbia University has shared a stacks survey tool that they have recently devised and used. While the steering committee felt it was a good tool and may be appropriate, we did not feel it was the committee's place to mandate this survey be done at the various units. If a system wide effort is needed/desired, the direction would best come from LMT. It may be difficult for a system wide effort, as many libraries are in a transition phase with building projects, that would skew the results.
5. Web form for ILS: Susan and Howard shared the newly revised ILS web form. This form was a result of cooperation between Mann and O/K/U. This revised form addresses the comments received from users over the past years. The patron does not have to input personal data or use multiple forms for requests from the same journal. The output for ILS departments can be customized and has improved tremdously. This form will go up on Monday, 1/25.
6. Notis 6.5 Testing Group: Surrinder would like to have a permanent Notis testing group in place. Carmen and Deb will ask for volunteers at the next Access Services Program Committee meeting (to be held 1/26).
7. Copyright update: There has recently been some changes in the copyright legislation. We need to set up a meeting with Pat McClary of the University Counsel's Office and Ross to discuss how these changes affect CUL policies on A/V and document delivery.
8. LMS: Suan, Carmen and Deb will be at ALA Midwinter. They will take the list of questions developed last year and revisit the vendors. They will report back to us on their results.
9. Mary Jackson (ARL) visit: Howard and Susan are working to plan her visit to Cornell (March 1-2), which will probably consist of tours and discussion with various ILS units as well as a presentation. This information will be posted when it has been finalized.
