Access Services Steering Committee
April 26, 1999
Carmen Blankinship, Susan Currie, Lori Micho, Deb Lamb-Deans,
Joel Zumoff was our invited guest
- Registrar loads: LTD was scheduling the last student patron load of
the semester for the first week in May. We discussed subsequent loads.
There was some reason we have had problems with expired records of active
patrons in the past if we load the "intends to register" too early in the
summer.
- Summer session: Incoming summer students do not get any information about library services when they register. Summer students do
not get a picture id. they get a paper id, which they can use to obtain a library
card if needed through Olin 101. Do we want to have a library person
available on site for summer registration or are there other ways we could
get library information to these students?
- E-mail circ notices: 6.5 has the ability to send notices and/or
bills out via email. There is no way that we could pick and choose who gets
them, it is done by patron category. While each service unit could go into
a file and chose the notices/bills they want to send for that day/week,
there is only 1 address that these notices are sent from. Which then means
there is only 1 address for users to respond to. Which would create an
enormous amount of work for someone, going through and sorting the
messages. It was the group's recommendation to not implement this feature
in 6.5, but wait to investigate the email notice capabilities in the new
LMS. DLD will write a memo to Ross with this recommendation.
Minutes recorded by Deb Lamb-Deans.
