Wine & Hors d'oeuvres Reception, Lecture and Poster Session
Keynote Speaker: R. David Lankes, director of
the Information Institute of Syracuse, and an associate professor in Syracuse
University's School of Information Studies. Library Science and the Ivy League
Library and information science has a vital role to play in the Ivy League.
As the elite schools redefine science and the humanities in the modern age,
LIS skills and insight can assure wide adoption and integration of the underlying
information infrastructure. Today's LIS scholars, professionals, and facilitators
can identify user needs, appropriate technologies, and maximize both the efficiencies
and effectiveness of information. This talk will demonstrate how libraries
serve as a vital connective tissue in today's university by emphasizing a
participatory approach to libraries.
