STEERING COMMITTEE

The Steering committee shall consist of three regular members, the immediate past Secretary, and the Secretary. The members shall be representative of both statutory and endowed libraries. Regular members shall be elected for staggered two-year terms which shall begin July 1. In the event of a vacancy between elections, the Steering Committee shall appoint a member of the Academic Assembly to fill out the vacant term. Whenever possible, this appointment shall be made from among the runners-up of the previous election.

The duties of the Steering Committee shall include:

(1) To assist and advise the Chairman in the preparation of the Assembly's agenda and the scheduling of regular and special meetings of the Assembly.

(2) To act as a Committee of Committees, which will appoint members to such Standing and Ad Hoc Committees as may be directed by the Assembly.

In keeping with the Assembly Bylaws, each Standing Committee shall keep records of its proceedings. Records might include agendas, minutes, correspondences, memorandums, project reports, survey results, special reports, publicity announcements, and other items of archival importance. A printed copy of electronic records should be made for archival purposes. The committee chair at the end of the fiscal year shall pass the most recent two years of the Standing committee's records to the next chair of that committee, and transfer any inactive records to the University Archivist.

COMMITTEE ON ACADEMIC PERSONNEL POLICY

RESOLVED: That a Standing Committee on Academic Personnel Policy, comprised of five members appointed for two year staggered terms, be established. The Director of Library Human Resources shall be invited to serve as an ex-officio member. The committee's areas of responsibility shall include:

In keeping with the Assembly Bylaws, each Standing Committee shall keep records of its proceedings. Records might include agendas, minutes, correspondences, memorandums, project reports, survey results, special reports, publicity announcements, and other items of archival importance. A printed copy of electronic records should be made for archival purposes. The committee chair at the end of the fiscal year shall pass the most recent two years of the Standing committee's records to the next chair of that committee, and transfer any inactive records to the University Archivist.

COMMITTEE ON THE ECONOMIC STATUS OF LIBRARIANS

RESOLVED: That a standing committee on the Economic Status of Librarians be established. The committee shall be comprised of five members appointed for two year staggered terms. The Director of Library Human Resources, or the Director's designee from Library Human Resources, shall be invited to serve as an ex-officio member. The committee shall investigate and report on the economic status of Cornell librarians and archivists over time, and relative to one another. The committee shall submit an annual report on the economic status of librarians to the Assembly.

In keeping with the Assembly Bylaws, each Standing Committee shall keep records of its proceedings. Records might include agendas, minutes, correspondences, memorandums, project reports, survey results, special reports, publicity announcements, and other items of archival importance. A printed copy of electronic records should be made for archival purposes. The committee chair at the end of the fiscal year shall pass the most recent two years of the Standing committee's records to the next chair of that committee, and transfer any inactive records to the University Archivist.

COMMITTEE ON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

RESOLVED: That a standing committee on Professional Development be established, comprised of five members appointed for two year staggered terms. The Director of Library Human Resources, or the Director's designee from Library Human Resources, shall be invited to serve as an ex-officio member. The committee shall promote and provide continuing education and professional development for CUL librarians and archivists. In support of this goal, the committee shall help librarians and archivists understand the history, resources, services, organization and mission of Cornell University Library.

In keeping with the Assembly Bylaws, each Standing Committee shall keep records of its proceedings. Records might include agendas, minutes, correspondences, memorandums, project reports, survey results, special reports, publicity announcements, and other items of archival importance. A printed copy of electronic records should be made for archival purposes. The committee chair at the end of the fiscal year shall pass the most recent two years of the Standing committee's records to the next chair of that committee, and transfer any inactive records to the University Archivist.
