Meeting Notes

March 11, 2002

Attending: David Block, Phil Davis, Bill Kara, Marty Kurth, Holly Mistlebauer, Scott Wicks.

1. Title-level access to Health Reference Center and Literature Resource Center. After reviewing both of these resources in detail, the committee decided not to provide title-level records in the catalog for individual e-journals indexed in them. Health Reference Center was problematic because of its selective coverage and convoluted journal title searching features. Literature Resource Center did not meet title-level criteria because it offered no way to scope by journal title.

2. Access to selected multidisciplinary high-use titles. Some high-use e-journal titles either do not appear in the current HTML list because we have not selected them through SerialsSolutions or they only appear with selective coverage due to the aggregators selected. The committee considered focusing access for a limited number of these titles to full coverage resources only. We will test this approach with a few sample titles in order to weigh the costs and benefits. The committee will revisit the topic when access for the sample titles has been modified.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 8, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in 702 Olin.
