Welcome to GCII's Resources for CUL Web Developers.
This is a selective list of resources aimed to assist anyone creating
or maintaining CUL websites. We will be adding more features as we develop
or find them. If you have any suggestions for items or categories to include

CUL services and resources:
- Gateway logo
- Download the new Gateway logo to use as a graphical link back to the
Library Gateway
- Self-serve form e-mail
- Want to add a form to your site to gather feedback from users? This
site will let you register to use the form script and guide you through
the set-up of the form.
Add a catalog search to your site
- If you would like to have a catalog search box right on the front
page of your site, much like the Library Gateway, complete the following
steps.
Add the Gateway navbar to your page
- An instruction page for those who would like to add a navigation bar
to their site that is in the style of the Library Gateway
Add a Chat link to your site
- Download image to use as links to chat reference.
- Recommendations for CUL webpages

- Basic recommendations for all public CUL websites.

- CIT page offering basic guidelines and best practices for web page
publishing.
Use of the Cornell logo on screens
- Information about placement of the Cornell logo and links to various
sizes of the logo to download.

- These tutorials can be completed at your own pace in your own office.
Cornell WebForum
- The campus-wide group offers monthly meetings on web topics plus a
listserv for posting queries [CUWEB-L].
WebMonkey
- Tutorials on all aspects of web development for beginners, builders
and masters.

Recommended Tools:
The following tools are currently being used in CUL web development.
Some level of support can be offered for these.
- WYSIWYG editors:
- Dreamweaver
A free, 30-day trial version of Dreamweaver can be downloaded from Macromedia.
If you want to buy it, the Cornell
Store online sells the site licensed version.
HTML code editors:
- Notetab Light
(freeware)
Search engines:
- Google
search
A free Google site search can be added to your website that will search
at the domain level. For example you can restrict a site search to http://campusgw.library.cornell.edu
but not to a specific directory such as http://campusgw.library.cornell.edu/colldev/
Atomz
Free and easy to set-up hosted site search for websites under 500 pages.
Fee based for larger sites.
Accessibility Tools:
- Cynthia
Says
A free online tool for checking the accessibility of individual
pages.
The Wave
A free online tool that adds icons and text to a page to
help you judge if it's accessible. Helps you determine the order in
which your tables are read.
A Prompt
A free downloaded checker that also facilitates corrections.
