All interested CUL staff are welcome to participate.

Where: 401 Warren Hall

When: Monday, March 21, 9:00am-Noon

Using new as well as prior knowledge of assessment as a foundation, participants in this workshop will engage in discussion and activities designed to develop new understandings and methods for using classroom and program assessments to improve student learning, evaluate program effectiveness, and build and strengthen partnerships with faculty and departments across campus.

In this workshop, participants will:

Compare and contrast “process-oriented” instruction and assessment with “results-oriented” instruction and assessment and discuss the importance of the latter in improving instruction, measuring program effectiveness, and building partnerships with faculty.

Be introduced to and discuss fundamental definitions, concepts, and methodologies of assessment (instructional, program, service, administrative).

Critique a case study of a collaborative effort between an instructor and a library instructor and generate conclusions regarding best practices for collaboration, planning, instruction, and assessment.
